clearwell castle wedding venue

Clearwell Castle “A HIDDEN GEM” In the forest of Dean is a very sought after wedding venue. It not only attracts couples who live nearby but attracts couples from all over the world to get married at this iconic venue. That speaks volumes of this stunning venue. Set in 20 acres of grounds, including a croquet lawn, a hidden lake, forest, and meadows plus much much more. This venue is certainly not short of options when it comes to having photos on your wedding day.

As a trusted wedding photographer by Clearwell Castle, it is always my aim to work to the highest standards on the day of a wedding. I am not only representing my business but also that of Clearwell Castle. On the day of your wedding, it is my aim to really feel part of your day, feel like a guest or part of your family. Some couples I don’t get an opportunity to meet until the day of the wedding. This was the case with this wedding on 31st December 2021.

Georgina and Kenny from London were traveling down for their wedding on New Year’s Eve. Having never shot a wedding on NYE before I was looking forward to what was going to be an awesome day.

I always make lots of plans with couples on the run up to the big day, planning is key to a successful day. Georgina and Kenny knew what they wanted, and when I saw the setup on the day it was very clear to see that a lot of time and effort had gone into the planning of their wedding.

So it’s New Year’s Eve, there’s a wedding taking place, there are no covid restrictions in place, (thanks Boris) and this means it going to be one big party and wow it certainly was.

The day commenced with Georgina and the girls getting ready in the Keepers cottage before heading over to the bridal suite in the castle and Kenny and the guys getting ready in the castle.

I spent the morning with the girls with my colleague Jonathan also the owner of Cross Jones Photography spent the morning with Kenny and the guys.

The ceremony was at 1pm and Georgina was on time to make her way down the 75ft long aisle to be met by her husband to be. There was little excitement at the end of the ceremony with Georgina punching the air in joy.

After the ceremony, everyone headed outside for the confetti shots (petals in this case) some group shots before taking Georgina and Kenny off for some photos on their own.

One of the best part’s of the day was yet to come with the planned shots in the evening to include sparklers and as requested, a champagne shot. I have done plenty of sparklers shots which I love and also plenty of champagne shots, again which I also love doing and it great fun for the couple.

i actually decided to mix up the images on the day by doing some sparkler and champagne shots together as well as individual shots. Did we have fun!! didn’t we just and you can see this in the images below.

There was a little panic before the evening entertainment started as the lead singer from the band they booked had tested positive for covid. There was now a slight panic to try and find a band last minute on NYE to drop their plans and come to the castle. Kenny successfully found “ The Good Fellow Band” (IG name) and can also be found on Facebook by clicking here 9nice one guys for stepping in.

Being as it was NYE meant there was going to be fireworks at midnight and what a great display to finish of an amazing day.

Best wishes Georgina and Kenny and thank you for choosing me to be your wedding photographer. Hope you enjoy these preview images before you jet off on your honeymoon.
