Staying here allows us to reach these locations at sunrise or sunset—the 'Golden Hour'—long before the tour buses arrive from Reykjavik. From the retreat, we are also within a short, scenic drive of the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara, the dramatic cliffs of Dyrhólaey, and the towering Skógafoss. Northern Lights vs. Midnight Sun
The Aurora Season (September – April): This is the prime time for Northern Lights. Because the retreat is located in a low-light-pollution zone, we can often capture the Aurora Borealis dancing directly over the glass cabins. Imagine an elopement gallery featuring the emerald glow of the lights through your cabin roof.
The Midnight Sun (June – August): For couples who want endless exploration, the summer months offer 24 hours of daylight. We can shoot at 2:00 AM in soft, pink light that lasts for hours, providing a dreamlike quality to your photos that is impossible to find anywhere else in the world."

How far is Sky Retreat from Reykjavik? It is approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive along the Ring Road (Route 1), making it an easy escape from the city.
Is the cabin private enough for an elopement? Absolutely. The glass cabins are designed for intimacy and seclusion, surrounded by the raw Icelandic wilderness and farm views.
What should we wear for a photo shoot here? Even in summer, Iceland is windy. I recommend layers, sturdy hiking boots for the waterfall trails, and perhaps a wool blanket for those cozy shots on the cabin terrace.
