Bryngarw House | Wedding | Photography | Cath and Jerome

CATH & JEROME

Wow, my first wedding in almost 18 months since Covid set upon us all in March 2020. How did it go and how did I find the pressures of photographing a wedding after all this time.

The wedding industry took an enormous hit and only now are we starting to see the possibility of a normal wedding as we use to know it.

On Saturday 1st May my Wedding Photography Business was on the move again. This was my first wedding in nearly 18 months, where I would be at the gorgeous venue of Bryngarw House Weddings to capture the wedding day of Cath and Jerome. Restrictions are still currently in place here in Wales and no doubt after many deliberations, Cath and Jerome decided that they would go ahead with the reduced number of persons allowed at the wedding.

They were both due to get married last summer when we hit a peak of the restrictions and therefore the wedding was moved. Who would have thought that almost a year later that restrictions would still be in place. Unfortunately, they were, but credit to Cath and Jerome they made the best of the day in the circumstances.

On the morning of the wedding, I meet Cath where she was getting ready at her parent’s house. It was a very relaxed morning and a far cry from pre covid bridal preps where they are several bridesmaids and lots going on which can become very frantic. My sidekick Jonathan, owner of Cross-Jones Photography assisted me by shooting some groom prep with Jerome before heading to Bryngarw House for the ceremony.

Following on from the ceremony were the traditional confetti and family photos although it was starting to rain when we were about to do the family photos and thanks to Jonathan for finding a large dry area under a very large tree, good find that man. Following the government guidelines, there was no food served or evening entertainment at the venue so food and drink were brought along by the family where they were able to enjoy the celebrations outside in the seated area.

Luckily the rain didn’t last too long which then allowed us time to get some bride and groom shots before the day came to an end around 4pm.

It was a very nice day with the reduced numbers and certainly easier to manage from a photographer’s perspective but it was definitely an ice breaker from the time off I have had from photographing weddings.

Congratulations Cath and Jerome
